James Thomas Towe is a Missoula attorney with over 30 years of experience representing people in a variety of personal injury cases, including medical malpractice, products liability/dangerous products, auto, bicycle, motorcycle and trucking wrecks, wrongful death and insurance claims. Jamie’s approach is to spare no effort by doing his best to help people with their cases, enforce their rights, and hopefully make the world a safer place one case at a time.

Jamie has extensive experience in transportation cases, including train crashes and derailments, truck and semi collisions involving oversized and super loads, pilot cars and escort vehicles. He has represented railroad workers for over thirty years. Jamie is well versed in the laws governing railroad safety and both domestic and foreign trucking companies. He has represented people from all walks of life, including visitors injured while traveling in Montana.

Jamie has represented clients in multi-district litigation involving defective medical devices. He was selected to serve on the steering committee of nationwide multi-district litigation involving defective hip implants.

Jamie has considerable trial experience, having represented clients in state and federal courts throughout Montana. He has also handled appeals before the Montana Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Jamie was selected by his fellow trial lawyers in Montana to be honored with the Trial Lawyer of the Year Award for Outstanding Trial Advocacy in 2016. Jamie is known for his dedication and willingness to see a case through trial and appeal.

Jamie is from Billings, Montana. After graduating from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, he attended the University of Montana School of Law, graduating in 1994. After graduating, Jamie had a clerkship with the Honorable Terry N. Trieweiler at the Montana Supreme Court before beginning private practice in Helena, Montana with Thueson & Lamb. After returning to Missoula in 1998, Jamie practiced with Milodragovich, Dale, Steinbrenner & Binney. He has garnered broad experience representing people, businesses, and business owners

In 2001, Jamie started Towe Law Office. Together with Kimberly Towe, they built a successful Plaintiff’s practice. In 2013, the firm was expanded to form Towe & Fitzpatrick, PLLC.

Jamie is licensed to practice in all of Montana’s state and federal courts. Memberships include the Montana State Bar, Montana Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice. He is a past president of the Montana Trial Lawyers Association and was a board member of MTLA for years. He has been a presenter/speaker at MTLA seminars.

Jamie and Kim have four children. When he is not working, Jamie enjoys fishing, sports, Griz football and spending time with family and friends. He has been active in the community with pro bono services and coaching kids in little league baseball and basketball.
